On 1 July 2026, MiCA — the European crypto-asset regulation — officially came into full effect. From that day forward, only exchanges holding official authorisation are permitted to operate within the EU. Bit2Me has held this licence since July 2025.

In this article, we explain exactly what this means for you — and how to transfer your crypto if you currently hold it on another platform.

What changed on 1 July?

MiCA is the first comprehensive European regulatory framework designed specifically for crypto-assets. Its core rule is straightforward: any company wishing to offer cryptocurrency services to European users requires an official licence from its national regulator. Without this authorisation, legal operations within the EU are not permitted.

For users, this is of vital importance because a licensed exchange operates under strict, concrete obligations: separating client funds from the company's own corporate capital, ensuring absolute transparency regarding fees and risks, and remaining fully accountable to a European regulator if anything goes wrong.

Bit2Me: The First Spanish Exchange Authorised as a CASP by the CNMV

We are the first specialised crypto exchange of Spanish origin to secure a full licence from the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) under MiCA. We have been operating in the market for over ten years, backed by major institutions including Telefónica Ventures, Investcorp, and Bankinter, among others.

This authorisation is far more than a simple compliance procedure: it is granted by the regulator only after verifying that we meet every single one of their stringent requirements. Furthermore, with our active MiCA passporting rights, we are fully authorised to operate across the entire EU directly from Spain.

How to transfer your crypto to Bit2Me

Moving your assets is much simpler than it looks.

  1. To deposit crypto into your Bit2Me Wallet, select the Receive crypto option and choose the asset you want to transfer.
  2. Next, select the network you want to use. Bit2Me will generate a wallet address for that specific asset and network. Copy it carefully.
  3. Finally, go to the exchange or wallet you're sending from, paste that address, and confirm the transaction.

Important: make sure the network you select on Bit2Me matches the one you choose on the sending platform. A network mismatch can result in permanent loss of funds.

In the upcoming articles in this dedicated series will detail the exact transfer process from the most commonly used exchanges. And if you don't have a Bit2Me account yet, you can create one in less than five minutes.
