On 1 July, the crypto framework in Europe undergoes a major shift, and an increasing number of people are moving their crypto-assets to a regulated exchange. If you have never transferred funds between platforms before, don't worry: it is much easier than it looks. Here is our step-by-step guide.
Why bring your crypto-assets to Bit2Me now?
On 1 July, the transitional period for MiCA — the European crypto-asset regulation — comes to an end. From this date forward, only exchanges holding an active licence will be permitted to operate within the European Union. Moving your crypto to Bit2Me means keeping it on a platform fully authorised by the CNMV under MiCA, complete with all the client protections recognized by the regulation.
Furthermore, there is an extra incentive to make the move right now: if you transfer your funds before 1 July, we will reward you for doing so. You can find all the details at the end of this article.
Before you begin, here is what you will need
- A verified Bit2Me account (the verification process takes just a few minutes).
- The specific crypto-asset you wish to transfer and the network you will use to send it.
- Your Bit2Me receiving address (we explain how to get this below).
How to transfer your crypto in 4 steps
- Log in or create your Bit2Me account: If you don't have one yet, you only need your identity document and a quick photo. Verification takes just a few minutes.
- Copy your receiving address: Go to the Wallet section, select the asset you want to bring over, and copy your personal address. This will be your unique receiving address for that specific cryptocurrency. Important: every crypto-asset has its own address and network. Make sure you select the correct one.
- Initiate the transfer from your other exchange: Navigate to the withdrawal or sending section on your other platform, paste the Bit2Me address you copied in the previous step, and confirm the transaction.
- Confirm arrival: Your funds will appear in your Bit2Me Wallet as soon as the network validates the transaction. Bitcoin transfers typically take between 10 and 60 minutes, while most other tokens take just a few minutes.
3 tips for a seamless transfer
- Double-check that the sending and receiving networks match: Sending assets over the wrong network can result in the permanent loss of your funds.
- Test with a small amount first: If this is your first time transferring crypto, it is always wise to try a small test transaction first.
- Review the address twice before confirming: Transactions executed on the blockchain are irreversible and cannot be undone.
