Bit2Me has reached an agreement with Shopify to offer the option to accept cryptocurrency payments on their platform. Shopify is the world’s leading e-commerce website software company.
More than 4 million merchant websites running on Shopify will be able to start accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment method thanks to this agreement, reflecting the e-commerce platform’s strong commitment to blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
Shopify’s new cryptocurrency payment service will work through a plugin that will connect the platform with the Bit2Me Commerce payment gateway in a secure and simple way.
Bit2Me CEO Leif Ferreira explains that “the agreement with Shopify is a turning point in the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies, as for the first time it will be possible to buy thousands of products with cryptocurrencies within millions of e-commerce sites around the world”.
Bit2Me Commerce is a service that offers merchant owners the ability to accept cryptocurrencies as a payment method, and receive euros in exchange transparently and automatically.
Bit2Me co-founder Andrei Manuel sees the deal as a success for the blockchain sector and for companies operating ecommerce platforms: “This partnership impacts the way people buy services and products globally, bringing cryptocurrencies closer to real life so they can buy anything with them.”
For Gonzalo Torres, Country Lead of Shopify Spain, “We have been working hard alongside Bit2Me to build new pillars of connection between brands and consumers. For example, we have recently managed to get one of the most recognized Spanish companies worldwide, Telefónica, to accept payments with cryptocurrencies in its store: tu.com. With these alliances, we want to enhance innovation and the depth and breadth of what we are developing from Shopify with the Connect to Consumer (C2C) model. An omnichannel vision of commerce that multiplies these opportunities for connection between brands and consumers”.
