Scammers impersonate banks, energy companies, phone operators and also exchanges like Bit2Me. Here is what a fake call looks like, so you can recognise it from the very first moment.
They can make our number appear
There is a technique called caller ID spoofing that makes a real company’s number appear on your screen. That is why seeing our number is no guarantee that it is really us. On top of that, they sometimes know your name or other details, which makes the call more believable.
What the call usually sounds like
- They tell you they have detected suspicious access or an urgent problem with your account.
- They rush you: “you need to act now or you will lose your funds”.
- They ask you for something: to move your funds to a “safe wallet”, to give them a verification code or to install an app.
The “safe wallet” does not exist
No legitimate company will ask you to move your funds to protect them. If you move them to the address they give you, they end up in the scammer’s hands.
What to do
Hang up, open the Bit2Me app yourself and message us through the Support chat. We will confirm whether there is any open request involving you.
Remember
Bit2Me will never call you to ask you to move your funds, share your codes or install any app. Your funds stay safe as long as you are not the one moving them.
